Zanotta, azienda attiva da 45 anni nel mondo del design díarredo, ha collaborato alla realizzazione dell'opera "Oreste alla Biennale" che sarà presente alla 48ma Esposizione Internazionale díArte della Biennale di Venezia.

Autore di questa insolita opera è ìOresteî, nuova realtà nel mondo dellíarte contemporanea e tra le novità più attese di questa rivoluzionaria edizione della Biennale. Tanti saranno infatti i cambiamenti introdotti dal nuovo curatore, il critico díarte svizzero Harald Szeemann.
 
 

Zanotta, a firm working in the world of designer furniture for 45 years, collaborated on the work "Oreste alla Biennale" which will be presented at the 48th Venice Biennale.

The author of this unusual work is "Oreste," a new figure in the world of contemporary art and one of the most looked-forward to innovations of this revolutionary Biennale. In fact, loads of changes will be introduced by the new curator, the Swiss art critic, Harald Szeemann.
 
 

Per "Oreste alla Biennale" Zanotta sarà anche co-curatrice del meeting "L'Arte e i suoi partner" che si svolgerà il giorno 18 Settembre 1999 all'interno dello Spazio Oreste nel Padiglione italiano, ai Giardini di Castello. Nel gruppo dei partecipanti a questo evento figurano, tra gli altri, Andrea Branzi (designer) e Harald Kegler (Bauhaus, Dessau).

For "Oreste alla Biennale" Zanotta will also co-curate the meeting "Art and its Partners" to be held September 18th, 1999; the venue is the Spazio Oreste in the Italian Pavilion in the Castle Gardens. Among others, the participants at this event include Andrea Branzi (designer) and Harald Kegler (Bauhaus, Dessau).

Biografia di Oreste:

"Chi è Oreste? Oreste, non è nessuno". Non è un gruppo che produce opere collettive, non è un sindacato che rivendica riconoscimenti, non è uníassociazione culturale. Per ora, è un insieme variabile di persone, in prevalenza artisti italiani, che da circa due anni dalla prima residenza presso la foresteria comunale di Paliano, nel luglio 1997 lavora per creare spazi di libertà e operatività per idee, invenzioni, progetti. Sono artisti che si sono "trovati" (e che continuano a trovarsi, in un processo ramificato e aperto), che fanno della collaborazione e della relazione con gli altri una pratica abituale della loro professionalità, che sono portatori di una modalità di lavoro che probabilmente è condivisa, o condivisibile, da molti altri, in Italia e altrove. Residenze estive, laboratori, pagine web, riunioni, viaggi, convegni, discussioni via voce e via e-mail, libri, teorie e pubbliche prese di posizione testimoniano la vitalità e la capacità di Oreste di mettere in comune risorse, qualità ed esperienze, di mettere in gioco uníapertura ai linguaggi, ai contesti e alle relazioni; una disponibilità alla spregiudicata individuazione e sperimentazione di nuovi, possibili, canali comunicativi. Líinvito a partecipare alla Biennale di Venezia rappresenta líopportunità di creare contatti e relazioni con altri gruppi, associazioni, individui che lavorano, magari già da tempo, secondo simili criteri di apertura e di ricerca, forse per elaborare futuri progetti comuni, certamente per stabilire connessioni, scambi di idee e informazioni.î (a cura di Oreste).

Oreste Biography:

ìWho is Oreste? Nobody is Oreste". It is not a group that produces collective artworks. It is not a trade union for artists. It is not a non-profit organization. Up to now it has been a variable set of people, prevalently made up of Italian artists who have been working together with the aim of creating spaces of freedom and of action for ideas, inventions, projects since about two years ago when a summer residency programme was set up by them in Paliano. These artists ìfoundî each other (and continue to find each other in a ramified and open process) and make a habit of collaborating and relating with others. Their way of working is probably shared by many others, in Italy and internationally. Residency programmes, workshops, web sites, meetings, trips, live or e-mail conferences, books theoretical discourse and public statements. Such practices show the vitality of Oreste and its ability to join resources, qualities and experience, to question languages and be open to differing contexts and relationships, to identify and experience channels of communicaton without prejudice. The invitation to take part in the Venice Biennial represents an opportunity to create new contacts with other groups, organizations or individuals who work or have been working, maybe for quite a while already, according to similar experimental and relational criteria. Future common projects as well as connections, exchanges of ideas and information might be established.î (by Oreste).
